Hi Chris, Back to you finally! My daughter Laurie, granddaughter Nicky and I had a wonderful trip to Ireland. Our car was really comfortable. It was the right choice for the three of us as far as size went, was very dependable, and Laurie really appreciated the automatic transmission. It took a lot of stress off of her as she got acclimated to all of the other issues with driving. She did a great job. Her worst problem was the drivers who sat on our bumper all the time. We came to the conclusion that tailgating was not a message, just a part of their culture. Laurie became very adept at finding tiny pull-outs so the traffic could go by. We put 1400 miles on the car. Our Bed and Breakfasts were all great; we liked all of them and would have stayed in any of them again. The first one, Ivy Bungalow, was probably the oldest, but was very comfortable. We stayed there the last three nights also. It was a little hard to find on the first night, because we had not yet become used to the signs and my map was old. Some roads in the Swords area were not on my map. When we came back toward the end of the trip, we found the directions easy to follow. We appreciated the quality of the Town and County B&Bs. They were all nice homes with some very friendly hosts and hostesses. We were usually able to find our first choice, but if not, we were referred to another nearby. Our 14 nights were spent in: Ivy Bungalow in Lusk (she didn't charge us extra for the two rooms since her triple was not available) Greenmount Lodge in Omagh Brown's B&B in Bushmills Cavangarden House in Ballyshannon Brooklodge in Westport Atlantic View B&B in Clifden Avalon B&B in Shannon Adare Lodge in Adare (not in TandCtrade 2006 B&B Book, but she took the voucher) Palm Rise B&B in Fermoy Laburnum Lodge in Tullow Glendale B&B in Laragh Ivy Bungalow in Lusk Ivy Bungalow in Lusk Ivy Bungalow in Lusk We usually started looking for a place to stay around 4pm. Then we had time to settle in, rest a bit, and find a pub for dinner at 6pm. Only on one day did we have problems, a Sunday evening. All of the places we found were closed but we finally found a hostess who called for us and booked a lovely B&B in Tullow. We had the full Irish breakfast every morning. We had learned in our trip eight years ago that it allowed us to save a few pieces of ham and sausage for our picnic lunches. After two weeks, though, we were pretty tired of salty meats. We had intended to stay mostly in the north half of Ireland, but Nicky did not remember Blarney Castle (she was 4 when we went before), so we decided to go south as well. She had decided that she wanted to kiss the Blarney Stone, so she could tell her friends. Going so far south allowed us to see Cahir Castle, Rock of Cashel and to spend time in the Wicklow Mountains. We had missed them on our first trip and they were well worth the time we spent. Thank you so much for all your help with the B&Bs and the car. Your advice was very welcome and I really appreciated the phone call a few days before we left. Since we go to Paris every other year, that will be our destination in February 2007. After that, we have a list of other places we must go: Scotland, Wales again, Lakes District, York, Cornwall, the Cotswolds (for me again). So it will be a while before we consider going back to Ireland. But our memories will carry us onward. We loved Ireland. Thanks for your help. Betty Green Laurie and Nicky Edwards
