Ireland AirfareHow do I get the best rate for airfare to Ireland?
Tips for Best Airfare to Ireland:
- Set your Google Flights alert as soon as you have dates for your trip.
- Consider flying into/out of Dublin (DUB) and/or (SNN) and any permutation of these two airports.
- Check partner airlines when an alert is triggered.
Google Flight Alert
You can set flight alerts to track flight prices for any airports in the world and Google will monitor the flights, giving a graph and alerts when rates go up or down. This is extremely helpful when you set your alerts well in advance, purchasing when flights dip or purchase if they remain steady as your trip approaches.
You do need to have definitive dates for your alert, airports, non-stop vs connections and you must select a class of service (economy, premium economy, business or first class) but you can set multiple alerts for any combination of these selections. We usually have our exact travel dates set therefore we will set multiple alerts to compare economy vs premium economy.
Your alert can also be a generic rate, for any airline or you can select specific flights to track. Again, we prefer the direct American flights from Philadelphia therefore our alert will select the exact flights and monitor them well in advance of our travel.
Dublin vs Shannon Airports
We still have many clients come to us, having purchased flights in and out of Dublin however much of what they want to see is on the west coast! That adds a days worth of travel when they could simply fly into Shannon and spend more time enjoying their vacation.
Flights are typically priced the same however you may notice higher-costs with Shannon, due to the demand from those who are familiar with this airport. As planes fill up, rates go up.
Check Partner Airlines
We were alerted that our flight had dropped for a trip to Lisbon, Portugal and I decided to check partner airlines that also fly there, more specifically Iberia.
Turns out the flights were hundreds less per person by booking through Iberia which showed they were code-sharing with American Airlines for the exact flights we were monitoring!
We booked the flights, they showed up in our online app and we received full Frequent Flyer Miles with American!
