Ashford Castle was very nice and a good choice for the kids. We did falconry and saw a sheep dog demonstration which was more fun for them then just driving around. Being able to walk into Cong was also a plus. Since the castle golf course was just a nine hole par three I felt comfortable with us playing golf as a family - once again the kids enjoyed being a little active. ~ Mary & James B.

We LOVED Ashford Castle. I surprised my husband with the 2 hour falconry course they offered which was infomative and fun. He loved it! ASHFORD was peaceful (a little highbrow for us) but we enjoyed it none the less. (Our money spent just like the ones driving the Mercedes :-) We chose to eat in the drawing room for dinner instead of 'dress up' and eat in the King George Dining Room. We were the only ones in there and it was delightful and very relaxing. And the food was absolutley wonderful. They had the most spectacular cheesecake for dessert which they served with chocolate covered strawberries and chocolates. Then we went down in the 'Dungeon" (pub) where we enjoyed music by a dark haired Irish lass who song like an angel, and played the Irish harp. We all sang along and my husband sang to me...VERY romantic. Then we were regaled by an older Irish actor/storyteller with stories of some of Ireland famous writers, a scene from a play and a story that captured the spirit of the Irish. It was sweet and wonderful and set th mood for our trip. ~ Debbie N.
